ABOUT

THIS PROJECT

Doing our part to help minimize the stigma around mental illness by spreading hope and empowerment.

AN INITIATIVE BY COSTA MOSHOPOULOS

WE NEED

TO CREATE CHANGE

The Rise Up Project is a personal initiative created by Costa Moshopoulos to help eliminate the stigma with mental illness.

He has worked with various mental health associations around the city of Montreal. These include The West Island Walk for Mental Health, Au Contraire Film Festival, Shameless, Friends for Mental Health and speaks at various functions in relation to mental health. He is currently applying his trade at CTV News Montreal as a Production Automation Assistant.

Costa was diagnosed in 2006 with Bipolar Disorder and has experienced first hand the effects of stigma. He has devoted his life to do anything he can to help others who are dealing with mental illness.

We need to keep the conversation going, we need to learn "why" we need to. There are consequences when there is ignorance towards mental illness. We can avoid senseless tragedies by just understanding that mental illness IS an illness.

Costa Moshopoulos is an award winning filmmaker who is dedicated to spreading the message of hope and empowerment through The Rise Up Project.
